My Services

01.

Sex Therapy is a specific kind of talk therapy  that involves some kind of sexual or intimacy issue for an individual or couple.

I work with individuals and couples on understanding themselves as sexual beings, whether this relates to their individual journey or within their relationships. Common issues I work with include:

Performance concerns, painful intercourse, orgasm concerns, loss of interest/libido, premarital counseling, sexual behavior experienced as problematic/compulsive, sexual trauma, body image, relationship/couples counseling and the interplay of religion/spirituality and sex.

02.

In individual therapy, I work with you one-on-one in a safe environment and support you in reaching your goals and living your life more fully. I help you bring the change that you want to see in your life, based on your unique goals and needs. I hope to help you facilitate change and improve your quality of life in a way that aligns with your personal values.

People seek out individual therapy for various reasons. I recognize the courage and vulnerability that it takes to ask for help and consider it a true honor to listen to your story and what has brought you in to my office. For these reasons, I meet you where you are at and help you identify your own personal goals.

03.

I work with your relationship and provide guidance and support so that you can learn together how to enrich your relationship through intentional change. It can feel scary to bring another person into your relationship, something so special and personal. In our work together, I offer a nonjudgmental space for you to gain perspective and skills that help guide your relationship closer towards where you want to be. I hope to help you understand your patterns and learn new ways of engaging with one another that are more aligned with your unique values.

This therapy can include:

Communication skills training, intimacy enhancement & education, exploration of sexual arousal and libido discrepancies within the relationship, technique enhancement, and mindful sex technique training and exploration.

Reasons couples often seek therapy include: wanting to understand one another more deeply; develop better communication patterns; infidelity; infertility; separation/divorce; premarital counseling; sexual script/temperament discrepancies; life transitions such as marriage, becoming parents, loss or illness.

The skills children and adolescents learn to incorporate into their lives today they will carry with them into adulthood! Working with youth is a huge passion of mine ever since I was an elementary school teacher, furthered by my years at Rady Children's Hospital Outpatient Psychiatry, for I believe that we have the power (and responsibility) as a society to help children reach their full potential. I recognize the trust that is placed in me when you bring your children to my office and take this very seriously. I truly love being a part of their journey, and consider it a huge honor!

Child and adolescent therapy provides a safe space for youth to open up and develop through understanding emotions, problem-solving, and creative expression! Even when they have a strong support system, youth can often truly benefit from having this special and private space, just for them, in which they can feel listened to and at liberty to explore all of their fears, worries, dreams and life journey experiences. Therapy can help support children and adolescents in gaining new skills to manage life stressors and deepen their ability to express their feelings appropriately.

05.

Family therapy includes parents/caretakers, siblings, children and extended family into treatment sessions. Life transitions, individual situations, and stressful events can add complexity and strain to family relationships. During the family therapy process, family members can explore the different dynamics and behavior patterns that exist within the family constellation, processing any issues that are creating challenges and/or obstacles to the family connection.

Though it can be challenging, family therapy can help individuals gain deeper understanding and compassion for family members. My aim is to honor your unique family values and welcome each family member to invite vulnerability in, share their feelings, and deepen communication. I provide a safe environment for family dynamics to improve through focusing on your strengths as an avenue for success.

As a clinical sexologist, I offer training and consultation to clinicians, schools, organizations, and other service providers for the purpose of enhancing sexual health understanding, as well as helping others become more comfortable when talking about sexuality and sexually-related issues.
My hope is to offer support and guidance to those looking to feel more confident in how they approach such topics with children, adolescents, and adults in our communities. This can be done in the form of one-on-one consultation, parent workshops, staff workshops, and/or an interactive training through in person meeting, phone conversation, or video conference call.
I am passionate about inspiring awareness and becoming educated on sexual health, in its various forms, thus creating sex positive communities for all individuals.
